It’s festive repertoire par excellence. It appears at Asturian festivals as a moment of open dancing, where people join in without a fixed choreography. Some towns hold festivals named after it.
Alongside the muiñeira and the loose-dance pieces, the xiringüelu carries the danceable part of the Asturian songbook.
