It brings together several functions: the alborada, which opens the day at festivals; the processional march of the religious cortege; the xirandilla and the muiñeira for dancing; and a broad ceremonial and festive songbook tied to romerías and celebrations.
It isn’t a closed repertoire. It’s passed on, reinterpreted and keeps growing through new arrangements and composition that grow from that same root.
