EMTI Fervienza
School of Traditional Music and Innovation, founded by Tever in 2026, dedicated to online teaching of Asturian gaita and tin whistle.
EMTI Fervienza —School of Traditional Music and Innovation Fervienza— is the online school of Asturian gaita and tin whistle founded by Tever in 2026. It offers individual and group live lessons, workshops and masterclasses, with no entrance exam: the goal is that learning gaita or tin whistle shouldn’t depend on living near a conservatory or fitting a municipal school’s calendar. The course starts in September 2026.
The name comes from the second surname of Tever’s father —Tever doesn’t carry it—, tied to the musical tradition of Proaza and Teverga: field research into the valley’s popular musicians uncovered an 1980s photo of Tever’s father carrying a ramu at the fiesta del Cébrano in Teverga —the offering to the Virgen del Cébrano the family has kept since Sobrevilla—, next to the gaiteru Juan Huerta. That photo gave the school its name.
Tever has studied gaita since age 13, played in the Camín de Fierro band, taught in Proaza and Teverga between 2017 and 2022, and passed through the Oviedo Conservatory. EMTI Fervienza brings that double experience —formal training and the village lesson— into a single teaching project, and crosses tradition and technology along the line Tever already opened in 2011 with his final degree project, a system that compared a real performance on the Asturian gaita against a reference score to review it while practising — the press nicknamed it “Gaita Hero”, though it wasn’t a game.
It’s the third of Tever’s three active projects, alongside tever.es (music and outreach) and labs.tever.es (research in music computing): the teaching branch.
