El Gaiteru Llibardón (Ramón García Tuero)

Ramón García Tuero, «el Gaiteru Llibardón» (1864-1932), Asturian piper who recorded in 1909 the first Asturian gaita record in history and took the instrument to world fairs and tours across Europe and America.

Ramón García Tuero, known as el Gaiteru Llibardón (1864-1932), was a piper from Arroes (Villaviciosa) who recorded in 1909 the first Asturian gaita record in history. He sang and played the gaita at the same time, and took the instrument to world fairs in Paris, Buenos Aires, and Barcelona, and to tours across Europe and America, decades before any professional circuit existed to make that possible.
